Some Happy Childhood Memories

Created by Anne 4 years ago

Michael always had a nickname for me.  For the first few years it was 'The Bubs'.  As I got older it became 'Button Nose' and then in my teenage years 'Acne Annie'  Only a brother !!

Waking me up when he got back late from the theatre after a performance, wearing a terrifying mask or brandishing a large sword.

Leaving a present on my pillow......after a holiday or just because he felt like it.

Dancing and singing in the sitting room in the flat in Wimbledon to West Side Story, The Pyjama Game, Singing in the Rain and many others,  played on an old gramophone.

Proudly watching him play cricket at Wimbledon Cricket Club and Malden Wanderers. No-one could shout "OWZATT" louder than my brother.

Taking me to Harry Hall in Oxford Street to buy me my first riding hat.  It was brown.

Michael and Caroline patiently teaching me to swim on holiday in Antibes, then in the afternoon leaving me sitting happily on the steps outside the casino in Monte Carlo with an ice cream while they went inside to have a look around.

The excitement of travelling down from Wimbledon on a steam train to stay on the farm in Biddestone......just the two of us.   Only a brother - but what a brother.
